Resume Objective Statements

You have probably seen it before, or you might even have it on your resume. Yes I’m talking about THE OBJECTIVE STATEMENT.

Objective statements are the most overrated, useless piece of information you can include on your resume. What is the real point of them? An employer knows you want a good job in that industry or field. Why else would you be applying for it. I have listed a couple of the most common objective statements below.

  • Obtain a position at XYZ Company where I can maximize my management skills, quality assurance, program development, and training experience
  • Seeking a position that will utilize my skills… blah blah blah

Don’t do this. It doesn’t provide any information to the employer and is just taking up space on the resume that could be used to highlight accomplishments or skills.
